🏡 Staffordshire Smart Alert – Home Security Advice

Staffordshire Police would like to offer some simple reassurance and advice to help residents keep their homes and families safe from burglary.

One method sometimes used by offenders is lock snapping, which targets standard door locks and can happen quickly.

Check your door locks – consider fitting anti‑snap, anti‑pick locks (TS007 3‑Star or Sold Secure rated)

Make sure locks do not stick out from the door handle and are in good condition

Always lock doors and windows, even when you’re at home

Use lights on timers or leave a radio on to make your home look occupied

Secure side gates, garages and sheds where possible

If you notice anything unusual or suspicious in your area, please report it.

Call 999 if a crime is happening

Report concerns via 101 or online

Looking out for one another and taking a few preventative steps can greatly reduce the risk of burglary.
